Eagles Cruise Past San Diego State

SAN DIEGO - Boston College improved its winning streak to three games with an 86-56 victory at San Diego State on December 21. Four players scored in double figures as the Eagles netted a season-high 86 points in the last non-conference game of the season.
Juniors Alissa Murphy and Cal Bouchard each scored 16 points to lead Boston College. Murphy also pulled down five rebounds and handed out five assists. Freshman Becky Gottstein added 13 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds for the Eagles. Freshman point guard Brianne Stepherson netted 12 points and handed out six assists. Boston College jumped out to an early lead, shooting 64.5 percent, and held a 50-22 advantage at halftime. All 10 players scored for Boston College in the victory, and the Eagles outrebounded San Diego State, 40-31.
MISC. SAN DIEGO STATE NOTES: Boston College scored a season-high 86 points in the victory...The Eagles also registered season-highs for field goals made (35), field goals attempted (64), and assists (20)...All 10 Boston College players scored in the win over the Aztecs ...Freshman Kim Mackie played 21 minutes and scored four points and pulled down seven rebounds... Senior Shawna Rainer played for the first time this season after missing the entire preseason and all of November recovering from ankle surgery. The senior forward played eight minutes and scored four points.
