Senior offensive guard Doug Brzezinski was named the winner of the annual Varsity Club Trophy, The Thomas F. Scanlan Award, at the 60th annual Scanlan Awards Banquet Sunday on the BC campus. Considered BC football's highest honor, the award is presented annually to the senior football player who best exemplifies the ideals of Tom Scanlan '20, one of the most beloved football alumni of Boston College scholar, athlete, gentlemen, friend and ambassador of goodwill for Boston College.
Considered to be a sure choice in the upcoming NFL draft, Brzezinski is a first team All-BIG EAST selection and is a major reason the Eagles finished with 4,527 yards in total offense on the year. The 6-5, 305-pound guard from Livonia, MI, was voted team co-captain prior to the season.
