BC Swimming And Diving Routs Bridgewater State, 232-64

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - - Boston College won 15 of 16 events, sweeping the top-three spots in eight of those in defeating Bridgewater State University Tuesday (Nov. 2) at Flynn Recreation Center pool. The Eagles improved to 1-0 in their first swim meet of the year.
Mike Wilt (Columbia, Conn./Windham) won both the one- and three-meter diving competitions, totaling 242.70 and 205.80 points, respectively. Steven Hunter (Chester, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) landed second to Wilt in both those events, gaining 190.05 in the three-meter and 210.68 in the one-meter.
James Pollack (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) led a BC 1-4 sweep of the 1000-yard free with a time of 10:39.40. With his event-winning time of 5:13.05, Fletcher Evans (Mercer Island, Wash./Seattle Prep) headed another BC contingent in the 500 freestyle that took first through fourth.
Colin Feichtmeier (Mountain View, Calif./St. Francis) was first in the meets' shortest race, the 50 free (22.99) while Russeil Keil (Tiburon, Calif./Marin Academy) outswam the field in the 100 freestyle, clocking 51.31. Bob Foley (Scituate, Mass./Boston College H.S.) edged Evans by 0.39 in the 200 free for his blue ribbon, finishing at 1:53.11. Matthew Baker (Lakewood, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) won the 100 backstroke (57.69), and Andy O'Connor (Glendale, Calif./Flintridge Prep) recorded his victory in the 200 butterfly (2:10.05).
Greg Dwyer (Rochelle Park, N.J./Hackensack) outdistanced the 200 backstroke field with his time of 2:05.48. Ken Barton (Meridien, Conn./Platt) won the 200 breaststroke (2:19.16), and Marc Manganiello (Norwich, Vt./Hanover) touched the pads first in the 200 IM (2:09.83). Freshman John Beierle (Rockford, Ill./Boylan CCHS) cruised in for the 100 butterfly (58.05), bettering the nearest competitor by over two seconds.
BC swims next at the CAN-AM Challenge (Nov. 5-6) in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
