Women's Ice Hockey Loses Twice Over Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Despite scoring three goals in the final period, Boston College fell to host #8 Providence 4-3 Sunday after losing to #6 Northeastern 12-0 the day before in Boston. BC dropped to 1-6 overall.
In the Providence game, both teams were held scoreless until the 4:51 mark of the second period, when PC's Jessica Tabb beat Eagle goalie Sharon Van Tuyl (Portage, Mich.), on a pass from Kim Mathias to give the Friars a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Valerie Bono extended the Friar lead on a blast from the blue line on the power play. BC's Lisa Molvar (Lexington, Mass.) scored with a man advantage at 6:52 in the third period with assists by Gen Richardson (Monroe, Conn.) and Amber Bobin (Evanston, Ill.). PC took a 3-1 lead on a Mathias goal at the 8:46 mark, then the Eagles took over, scoring two goals in 36 seconds. Molvar scored the first at 16:17, fed by Jen Buckley (Greenwich, Conn.) and Bobin, and Nicole Fortier (Portsmouth, R.I.) tied the game at 16:56, receiving an assist from Jane Jorge (Allston, Mass.). Jennifer Kranz notched the game-winner for Providence with just over two minutes to play.
Friar goalkeeper Brigid Keady stopped 25 shots while VanTuyl made 33 saves in the loss.
In the Northeastern game, four Husky players garnered two goals apiece to earn the 12-0 shutout. Jennie Setaro, Kathleen Savino, Colleen Coen and Hilary Witt scored twice while Setaro added three more assists.
BC goalkeeper Christy Nentwig (Chesterfield, Mo.) was forced to make 38 saves in the game while her NU counterpart only had eight. Boston College hosts Niagara for a two-day stand Nov. 27-28. Both games start at 2 p.m.
