Hockey Loses to Maine, 4-2

CHESTNUT HILL - Senior center Cory Larose registered a hat trick and added one assist to lead Maine to a 4-2 HOCKEY EAST win over Boston College before a crowd of 6,301 at BC?s Kelley Rink.
After assisting on the Black Bears? first goal, Larose scored one goal in each of the three periods. Maine led 2-0 after one period, and 3-2 after two periods, before Larose netted the game?s final goal at 3:49 of the third period.
Maine sophomore forward Barrett Heisten?s power-play goal at 4:48 of the first period opened the scoring. Larose?s unassisted tally at 9:15 gave the Black Bears a 2-0 advantage, before BC junior defenseman Bobby Allen scored to bring the Eagles to within one goal at 2-1. Allen?s goal came while BC enjoyed a two-man advantage.
In the second period, Larose scored at 1:51 and BC?s Mike Mottau narrowed the Maine lead to 3-2 with a power-play goal at 14:40.
"We set our standards pretty high," Boston College coach Jerry York said. "We?re a pretty good team right now, not an excellent team. We must understand that college hockey is a tough game. It?s a hard battle. We got some black eyes this weekend, and I?m sure we?ll be giving some as the year goes on."
Maine sophomore goaltender Mike Morrison made 25 saves to earn the win. BC junior Scott Clemmensen made 16 stops.
Boston College returns to action on Friday, Nov. 19 at Merrimack. Game time is 7 p.m.
