Schmidt Named to BIG EAST All-Rookie Team

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman forward Casey Schmidt was named to the BIG EAST?s All-Rookie team, the league announced Thursday evening at its annual men?s soccer banquet.
The Eagles? leading scorer with 11 goals and two assists for 24 points, Schmidt was the only Boston College player to receive recognition.
Schmidt, a member of US Soccer?s U-18 national player pool, scored the game-winning goal in four of Boston College?s six wins. He tallied his first BIG EAST goal against Pittsburgh on Oct. 31, giving BC a 1-0 win.
Schmidt is one of eight starters who are slated to return for Ed Kelly?s squad next fall. Boston College finished the season with an overall record of 6-9-2 and a BIG EAST mark of 2-9-0.
