Men's Tennis Hands New Hampshire 6-1 Loss

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College men's tennis team defeated the University of New Hampshire, 6-1, on the outdoor courts on the Chestnut Hill campus to move to 2-0 on the season.
Senior captain Anand Annigeri (Manchester, CT) defeated Graham Milliken, 6-0, 6-2, in the first singles spot. Junior Jason Cowett (Del Mar, CA) took Justin Canale in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1 in the second spot. Sophomores Marc Lucero (San Diego, CA) and Colin Kennedy (Maplewood, NJ) both earned wins, 6-4, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-1, respectively in the third and fifth singles spots. In the sixth singles spot, senior Brad Hughes (Wellesley, MA) took the second set tie break to beat Kevin O'Keefe 6-1, 7-6 (7-3). Freshman Greg Comfort (Columbus, OH) fell to Scott Rosa in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, 0-6 for the lone Eagle loss on the day.
In doubles action, the top team of Annigeri and Cowett defeated Canale and Doug Dodge 8-2, while the freshmen tandem of Damon Vartabedian (Oakland, NJ) and Phil Bulauitan (Manhasset, NY) defeated Milliken and Drew Hendrickson 8-4 in the second slot. In the final match, Lucero and Kennedy teamed to beat Rosa and O'Keefe 8-5.
The Eagles will next see action on Thursday, Oct. 7 when they travel to Amherst, Mass. to take on the Minutemen of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst at 3:00 p.m.
