STORRS, Conn. -- The 11th-ranked University of Connecticut men?s soccer team used a goal three minutes into the contest by senior Luis Arauz and proceeded to defeat Boston College, 2-0,in a BIG EAST conference matchup on Thursday afternoon at Morrone Stadium in Storrs. The win drops BC's record to 5-8-2 overall and 1-8-0 in the BIG EAST while UConn improves to 11-4-0 overall and 7-2-0 in the conference.
The early goal by Arauz came on an eighteen-yard chip assisted by sophomore Chris Gbandi. Connecticut notched its second tally at the 36:27 mark on a goal by Edwin Rivera off a through pass from Arauz. The second half went scoreless, with Connecticut controlling much of the action, eventually outshooting the Eagles, 16-3.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday, Oct. 31 in a 1 p.m. game at the University of Pittsburgh.
