Rob Wennington is in his first year as associate director for Athletics Major Giving at Boston College.
Prior to working at the Heights, Wennington became the athletic director at powerful Bishop Moore Catholic in Orlando, Florida. In this role, he was responsible for hiring more than 50 head and assistant coaches, managing a $1 million budget, creating a student life department, and facilitating several capital projects for athletics, including new locker rooms, student athlete learning resource center, auxiliary weight room, softball dugouts and commons, and stadium track. Under his three-year leadership, the Hornets achieved Florida Athletic Coaches Association 5A Athletic Program of the Year, 5A Academic Team Champion, three consecutive state championships in women's soccer (#6 in the nation), and three consecutive national championships in competitive dance.
Wennington has served as athletic director at multiple schools including Bishop Moore Catholic, St. Francis Xavier School, Guerin Prep High School and Catholic Memorial School. He has worked various other roles as basketball and football assistant coach and English teacher.
Back to his roots, Wennington graduated from Boston College in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and a minor in management and leadership. During his time, he was a member of the football team and a WZBC sports radio host. He went to earn a master’s degree in sports administration from Northwestern University in 2018 where he was a graduate assistant for the men’s basketball team.
Son of 3-time Chicago Bulls NBA champion, Bill Wennington, sports has always been in his DNA. When he is not in the office, he is cheering for the Green Bay Packers, planning trips to the beach, and spending time with my family.
“I am blessed to return to the Heights and give back professionally to a community that has shaped me into the man I am today.”
