Mike Buhmeyer

Buhmeyer arrives at Chestnut Hill after three seasons as the men's basketball strength and conditioning coach at The University of Texas at Arlington, where he directed all aspects of sports performance and athlete wellness for the program. In this role, he oversaw strength & conditioning, sport science integration, recovery protocols, and performance monitoring. at UT Arlington, Buhmeyer implemented a data-driven performance model to assess athlete readiness, workload, and development in addition to designing individualized nutrition and training progression strategies. During his time with the Mavericks, he contributed to the development of three All-Conference selections, the 2024 WAC Freshman of the Year, and the 2024 WAC Sixth Man of the Year.
Prior to his time at UT Arlington, Buhmeyer spent the 2022-23 season as the Kentucky men's basketball assistant strength and conditioning coach, aiding in the data-driven day-to-day fitness and performance of the program's student athletes. With the Wildcats, Buhmeyer cultivated player performance sessions while leading the creation of individualized prep sessions. Creating a player readiness database to provide quantitative analysis for player practice and game readiness, he developed an individual player analysis database to assess physical abilities and identify areas of improvement. He was also the head strength coach with BDA International, managing all aspects of sports performance for the agency's 2023 NBA Pre-Draft athletes.
During the 2021-22 season, Buhmeyer worked closely with the Furman men's basketball and men's golf teams. He instituted performance plans for both programs, helping with annual planning, periodization, individual program design and mobility training. With the Paladins, Buhmeyer oversaw player nutrition and supplementation.

Additionally, Buhmeyer was the strength and conditioning coach at Charleston Collegiate High School (2020-21).

Buhmeyer served five years in the United States Marine Corps as a designated marksman and martial arts instructor. He conducted combat operations on multiple deployments to both Afghanistan and Africa, and was awarded 11 medals and honors for actions performed in a combat environment.

Buhmeyer earned his bachelor's degree in political science with a minor in business from Clemson in 2018, and his Master of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in coaching from Georgia Southern in 2021. He is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
