Julia Batson enters her second season as an assistant coach with the Boston College rowing program.
Batson arrives at BC after serving as a coach and athlete with the Saratoga Rowing Association/ARION program in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. In that role, she supervised daily on-water practices and workouts and organized regattas for high school and collegiate athletes. In addition to her coaching duties, Batson was also part of ARION's elite racing group. She has also served as a coach at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in Vermont and the Bainbridge Island Rowing in Washington state.
A 2023 graduate of Smith College, Batson graduated cum laude with a degree in religion and a minor in exercise and sports studies. While at Smith, Batson was a three-time All-American honoree and a NEWMAC First Team all-conference selection in 2022 and 2023. She was the 2022 Pioneer Powerhouse Athlete of the Year and earned dean's list honors in each of her four years.
An accomplished athlete and sculler, Batson has won the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta four times, numerous USRowing summer national championships, and has raced in the Championship 1x at the Head of the Charles, as well as the U.S. U-23 trials, numerous Speed Orders, and Olympic trials.
