Joey McIntyre is in his third year as assistant athletics director for leadership & annual giving at Boston College. In his role, he plays a crucial role in fundraising efforts to support BC Athletics. Since joining the department in April 2023, McIntyre has been instrumental in engaging alumni, parents, and supporters through the Flynn Fund, securing essential resources for student-athletes and athletic programs.
Before his tenure at Boston College, McIntyre held various fundraising and sports management roles, bringing a wealth of experience in donor relations, strategic sales, and athletics administration. He previously served as the associate director of annual giving at Bentley University, where he helped drive philanthropic support for university initiatives. Additionally, he worked in strategic account management at First Citizens Bank and Lululemon, gaining expertise in business development and client engagement.
Joey's extensive background in athletics includes serving as the elite athlete services coordinator at Bauer Hockey and as the director of recruiting, operations, & external relations for Dartmouth College football. In these roles, he managed athlete partnerships, recruitment strategies, and operational logistics to enhance team performance and visibility. His early career also included coaching football at Hartford High School and working in customer service management at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center.
Beyond his professional work, Joey has dedicated time to volunteering as a USA Hockey referee and remains passionate about fostering growth in sports at all levels. He is also an active member of the Boston Children's Hospital Miles for Miracles Boston Marathon Team, running in the 2025 Boston Marathon to raise critical funds for pediatric care and research.
Originally from Sharon, VT, McIntyre earned his bachelor's degree in sports administration from Castleton State College and is currently enrolled in the Woods College for Advancing Studies at Boston College, working towards his master's in sports administration with a concentration in executive sports leadership. Joey and his daughter, Juliette, live in Exeter, NH.
