Attended Walter Johnson High School... Lettered all four years at Walter Johnson for the varsity swim team... Captain of the team for his junior and senior year... Played a key role in the team's success as the Wildcats won four straight county championship titles from his freshman to his senior year...Named Most Improved Freshman Year. (2003-2004 season)...Received the Coaches Award during the 2004-2005 season and 2005-2006 season...Received the Wildcat Award...Member of the 2006-2007 County Record Breaking Relay team in the Boys 200 yard breaststroke relay...Eastern Zone Southern Sectional Qualifier for 200yd butterfly and 100yd butterfly...Senior captain of the NTG in 2006-2007.

Ben is from Rockville, Maryland. He is the son of Jerry Mindes and Lena Sun. He has one sister, Sophie (13) in 8th grade.
