BEFORE BC: KENTUCKY: Two-year starter at the University of Kentucky, starting 22 games and playing in 28 in three years … amassed 5,099 passing yards on 427-of-759 attempts with 24 touchdowns and 24 interceptions … ran for 353 total yards, and scored 11 rushing touchdowns ... recorded 2,148 passing yards with nine touchdowns and 14 interceptions on 183-for-326 attempts in 2015, registering a 56.1 completion percentage for the Wildcats … also scored five rushing TDs … recorded 3,021 yards total offense in 2014, joining Tim Couch, Dusty Bonner and Jared Lorenzen as the only players in school history to top the 3,000-yard mark in first season as a starter … threw 159 consecutive passes without an interception, the second-longest streak in school history in 2014 … completed 57.8 percent of passes for 2,718 yards and 14 touchdowns in sophomore season ... ran for 303 net yards and six more scores ... threw for 377 yards against UT Martin in first collegiate start and 407 yards total offense was only two yards shy of the school record for most total yards in a first start ... threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns at Florida, making him the first QB in school history to throw for at least 360 yards twice in first three starts ... threw for a career-high 390 yards and rushed for a career-high 76 yards versus Mississippi State … HIGH SCHOOL: Named to the Parade magazine All-America team … “Mr. Football” for the Commonwealth of Kentucky … Gatorade Player of the Year in Kentucky … won the Paul Hornung Award as the Kentucky Player of the Year … finalist for the National Scholar-Athlete Award by the National Football Foundation … led Highlands to three consecutive state championships as the starting quarterback, Class AAAA as a senior and Class AAAAA as a sophomore and junior … team compiled a three-year record of 44-1, including 38-1 with Towles as the starter.
