Nicole Cordero joined the Boston College field hockey staff as an assistant coach in August 2017. The Illinois native was a four-year starter at Massachusetts and brings coaching and recruiting experience to The Heights.
Cordero played forward for the Minutewomen from 2009 to 2013. She earned National Field Hockey Coaches Associations (NFHCA) Second-Team Regional All-American honors and Atlantic-10 Conference First-Team honors as a senior. She was dubbed UMass’s Offensive Player of the Year, A-10 All-Tournament Team and was a Division I Senior Game selection that year. She collected all-conference second-team honors as a junior and was named the Kathy Phelan “Heart of the Team” Award recipient after her sophomore campaign.
After graduation, Cordero played for the Rockingham Redbacks in Australia, earning the team MVP Award and all-star status.
The Forest Park, Ill., native most recently coached at Oak Park Forest High School, from 2013 to 2017. She was the head field hockey coach and assistant lacrosse coach for the Huskies.
In 2014, Cordero was the head recruiting coach for field hockey for the National Collegiate Scouting Association, where she provided guidance and support to parents and student-athletes looking to play college athletics.
Cordero graduated from UMass in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology.
