Baseball Night in Boston
BASEBALL NIGHT 2020
Date: January 16
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Location: State Street Pavilion (Fenway Park)
Registration: Click Here
The Annual Baseball Night in Boston at Fenway Park is the single largest fundraiser for the Boston College baseball program. Proceeds help to defray the team’s early-season trips, which are vital preparation for the Eagles' ACC slate, as well as finance important technology to enhance the growth and performance of the players. The funds raised also contribute to annual operating expenses including recruiting, equipment and scholarships.
Every year, head coach Mike Gambino presents the No. 8 jersey to one member of the BC baseball team at Baseball Night. The tradition was started his first year at The Heights in 2011 and the number is worn in honor of former player Peter "Sonny" Nictakis. Each season a player who has battled adversity and represents the best qualities of BC Baseball is voted by the team to wear Nictakis's old number. Nictakis was a two-time captain for the Eagles in 1998-99 and lost his courageous battle with Hodgkin's disease in the summer of 2000. Until 2011, his No. 8 had not been worn since 1999.
The Eddie Pellagrini Award, named for the winningest coach in BC baseball history, who was at the helm for 31 years, is also presented at Baseball Night. It is given to someone who has given back to the program.
The 2018 event was a record-breaking year with the most ticket sold and the most funds raised. Baseball Hall of Famer and Red Sox great Pedro Martinez was the featured guest and speaker.
