• Was also part of Circolo del Castellazzo, a club team located in Parma, Italy
• Three-time national champion in alpine skiing before focusing solely on tennis

• Son of Guido Maria and Nicoletta Barilla
• Father was a member of the track & field team during his time at BC
• Has three siblings, Francesco, Gregorio and Gualtiero
