Women's Tennis Drops to No. 3 UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 44 Boston College women's tennis team (6-4, 0-2 ACC) fell 4-0 to No. 3 North Carolina (12-1, 2-0 ACC) Sunday afternoon at Chewning Tennis Center.

UNC secured the doubles point with two victories to take an early 1-0 lead. The tandem of Maddy Zampardo and Susanna Maltby topped Seren Agar and Natalie Eordekian, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles, while Anna Frey and Reese Brantmeier defeated Olivia Cutone and Olivia Benton, 6-1, at No. 3. No. 2 doubles, featuring Bella Camacho and Leyden Games against Tatum Evans and Oby Kajuru, was left unfinished at 3-3.

In singles play, the Tar Heels clinched the match with three straight-set victories. No. 17 Tatum Evans defeated Agar, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 2, followed by No. 6 Oby Karuju's 6-3, 6-2 win over Natalie Eordekian on court three. Maddy Zampardo secured the deciding point with a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Tola Glowacka at No. 4 singles.

Several matches remained in progress at the time of the decision. On court one, Olivia Benton was battling top-ranked Reese Brantmeier, taking the first set 6-4 before play was halted at 2-2 in the second. Leyden Games and Nadia Barteck also had their matches stopped in the second set.
