CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College will host the first annual Syd Fadner Invitational on Nov. 22 in honor of former head coach Sydney Fadner. Fadner, who retired in 2018 after 27 years in charge, guided the Eagles to 232 wins during her tenure. Her 27 years in charge was the third-longest tenure of current BC coaches at the time.
Fadner coached 15 NCAA Championship qualifiers, with Luke Mountain '00 and Renee Bichette '17 earning All-America honors. Her teams combined for 16 New England Championship titles and seven Northeast Fencing Conference regular-season titles.
Fadner was a three-time Northeast Fencing Conference Women's Coach of the Year, and instrumental in the creation of the annual Beanpot Fencing Tournament. This year will be its 18th year of competition. She also served as a member of the NCAA Northeast Region Fencing Committee for many years.
