Eagles Defeat Dartmouth in Red Bandanna Showdown to Remain Undefeated

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College volleyball team (8-0, 0-0 ACC) continued their undefeated run in a 3-1victory over Dartmouth (2-4, 0-0 Ivy) Saturday night at the Margot Connell Rec Center. The Eagles won by scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 and 25-12.
Audrey Ross led the offensive effort posting 15 kills and contributing over 17 points. Anna Herrington was close behind tallying 12 kills, a career high. Herrington posted a .667%, the best of the night. Corenlia Roach and Sequoia Layne had a combined 15 kills. Aubrey Moore assisted the offensive effort tallying 24 assists. Junior Brooklyn Yelland held down the back row tallying 22 digs. The Eagles blocking effort was in full effect tonight with Cornelia Roach, Audrey Ross and Sam Hoppes recording a total 10 blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: The Eagles came out with a bang opening up scoring with a 4-0 run featuring kills from Herrington, Marjanovic and Roach. Herrington was finding the seam all over the court, recording five kills in the first set alone. The Eagles did what they do best, posting seven blocks in the first set. Blocks from Roach (2), Ross (2) and Hoppes (2). Three kills from both Roach and Marjanovic pushed the Eagles lead, kills from Ross and Ehrlich sealed the deal. The Eagles took the first set 25-16.
Set 2: The Big Green came back fighting earning the first four points of the second set. Herrington once again opened up BC scoring with a kill through Dartmouth block, getting the Eagles going. Kills from Roach and Ross accompanied by blocks from Roach and Hoppes shortened the gap. The BC offense wasn't enough to catch up in the second set as Dartmouth took the set 25-19.
Set 3: The Eagles came back to fight in the third opening play up with kills from Roach, Herrington and Ross (2). Danica Rach and Yelland were all over the court assisting the defensive effort. A pair of kills from Hoppes pushed BC in the lead. A huge solo block from Herrington lengthened the lead to three. Dartmouth quickly responded, shortening the gap and tying up at 12. Another big block by Ross and Ehrlich kept the Eagles up. An 8-3 BC run with kills from Ehrlich, Hoppes and Ross pushed the Eagles far ahead. A final kill by Layne sealed the deal. The Eagles took the third set 25-17.
Set 4: Building off of momentum from the third, the Eagles opened up the set with a 3-0 run featuring two kills from Layne and an ace from Ehrlich. Dartmouth quickly fought back, evening the score just three times until BC went on a 6-0 run, lengthening the gap. Kills from Herrington (2) and Layne (3) sealed the deal. Three kills from Ross closed the set and the Eagles won 25-12.

The Eagles close their first weekend at home Sunday, Sept. 14 competing against UAlbany. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
