
2025 MLB Draft: Ragsdale Selected by Brewers

Junior outfielder selected in the seventh round of the draft on Monday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Milwaukee Brewers selected Boston College outfielder Josiah Ragsdale with the 215th pick in the seventh round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday afternoon, becoming the 94th player in program history to reach the next level of baseball.Â
Ragsdale hit .319 on the season for Boston College - his first with the Eagles after spending the previous two at Iona. Â In 56 games, the 6-0 lefthander registered an on-base percentage of .418 and slugged nearly .500. Â He hit five home runs and knocked in 30 runs. Â
He had 16 multi-hit games in 2025, including five games with three or more hits. Â Seventeen of Ragsdale's 66 hits were for extra bases, including five triples - which ranked second in the ACC and 19th nationally. Â The Vineland, N.J. product also ranked among the conference leaders in stolen bases, swiping 30 bags - good for fifth among the ACC.
This summer, Ragsdale is starring with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Â In 16 games player, he is hitting .373 with 19 hits in 51 at-bats. Â His OPS of .918 ranks among the top 20 in the CCBL and he is tied for the league lead - along with BC teammate Adam Magpoc - with 15 stolen bases.
Ragsdale becomes the third Boston College player drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers - OF Sal Frelick (2021) and RHP Timothy Smith (1989). Â Frelick is currently starring for the Brewers, hitting nearly .300 in the leadoff spot.Â
Excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 MLB Draft, this marks the 11th consecutive year Boston College Baseball has produced at least one MLB Draft pick. Â During that stretch, 32 Eagles had their names picked. Â Last year, Cameron Leary (Athletics) and John West (Diamondbacks) were selected in the 2024 MLB Draft. Â In 2023, the Birdball draft class included Travis Honeyman (Cardinals) and Joe Vetrano (Dodgers).Â
