COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Boston College men's hockey standouts Cutter Gauthier and Will Smith were named to the U.S. Men's National Team for the 2025 IIHF Men's World Championship, scheduled for May 9-26 in Herning, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.
Gauthier was on the initial 18-player list that was announced on April 24, while Smith was one of five additions announced on April 30. This marks the second time that both players will be playing in the Men's World Championship for Team USA.
Gauthier was a member of the 2023 team, where he skated in all 10 games, posting nine points on seven goals (tied for team lead) and two assists. Smith is on the U.S. team for the second-straight year, having skated in five games during the 2024 tournament.
Both players are coming off their rookie NHL campaigns. Gauthier played in all 82 games for the Anaheim Ducks, finishing with 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points. Among rookies, he ranked third in goals and fifth in points. Smith skated in 74 games for the San Jose Sharks and finished with 45 points (fourth-most among rookies) on 18 goals and 27 assists.
