
Dominating Win for BC at Shark Invitational

Ben Hong (-5) wins tournament and leads five Eagles in the top 10
GLEN HEAD, N.Y. -- Boston College captured its first tournament of the spring in dominating fashion, taking the team title at the 2025 Shark Invitational. Â The two-day, 54-hole tournament was held at the Brookville Country Club.
The Eagles finished at 5-under as a team, registering a total team score of 835. Â After a 5-under opening round 275, BC fired a second round 287. Â The best round of the tournament came on Tuesday, firing on all cylinders at 7-under, coming in with a 273. Â The 7-under third round was the lowest round to par for BC as a team this season. Â BC won the tournament by a whopping 16 strokes over runner-up Seton Hall.
Ben Hong was the medalist for the tournament, finishing at 5-under (205). Â Hong had a nice start on Monday, posting a pair of 69's during the first and second rounds of competition. Â During Tuesday's final round, Hong was 3-under with a 67, including a bogey-free round through the first 14 holes. Â For the tournament, Hong finished with 13 birdies.
Jack Pogorelc had his best finish of the year, tying for third place overall at even-par. Â After a nice start to the tournament - a 1-under 69 for the opening 18 holes of competition - the junior followed by an even-par second round 70. Â He closed out play on Tuesday with a 1-over 71.
Markus Lam had the low score of any BC golfer during Tuesday's final round - a 4-under 66. Â During the final round, Lam was 3-under on the front nine, carding four birdies and four pars. He opened with a stellar bogey-free 2-under 68 in the first round. Â Lam finished seventh overall, at 1-over (68-77-66=211). Â
Christian Emmerich and Brian Xu - competing as an individual - each tied for eighth place (212). Â

After a nice start to the tournament - a round of 69 on Monday morning - Emmerich closed out in similar fashion on Tuesday, with another 69. Â He recorded 14 total birdies through the three rounds. Â Xu was even-par during the first round with a score of 70, closing out with a pair of 1-over 71's on Monday afternoon and Tuesday.
Tommy Mangan tied for 21st (217). Â On Monday, he recorded a pair of eagles for the Eagles, getting home in two on the par 4 4th hole in each of his two rounds of play. Mangan finished the tournament with a final round 73. Â In total, four BC golfers finished among the top 10 and five were among the top 25 in the field. Â
Ben Paylor, competing as an individual for BC, finished in 33rd place (75-71-74=220). Â His best round came during Monday's afternoon session - a 1-over 71. Â William Musson, also playing as an individual, rounds out the BC golfers in a tie for 34th place (75-73-73=221). Â The highlight of the tournament for BC came during Musson's second round, where he aced the par 3 3rd hole.
As a team, the Eagles led the field in par 3 (3.17 avg), par 4 (3.99 avg,) and par 5 (4.90 avg). Â BC also led the field with 53 birdies and tied for the tops with two eagles.Â
BC returns to action at the 2025 ACC Championship, held April 24-28 at the Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.
