
BC in First Place After Opening Rounds of Shark Invitational

Six Eagles are among the top 25 on the leaderboard, led by Ben Hong (t2nd)
GLEN HEAD, N.Y. -- Boston College sits in first place after the first two rounds of play at the 2025 Shark Invitational. The Eagles are 1-over as a team, posting team scores of 276 and 285 (561). The 4-under first round was the lowest round to par for BC as a team this season. BC holds an eight-shot lead over Seton Hall heading into Tuesday's final round.
Six BC golfers are among the top 25 individuals, led by Ben Hong. Hong is tied for second place, at 2-under (138). After a 1-over 71 during Monday's morning session, the senior fired a 3-under 67 during the afternoon. Hong posted four birdies on the back nine.
Jack Pogorelc is one stroke behind Hong, good for fifth place (139). He had a nice start to the day, posting a 1-under 69, followed by an even-par second round 70. During the morning session, Pogorelc carded two birdies and 15 pars, to only one bogey.
Playing as an individual, Brian Xu is tied for 10th place (141). He was even-par during the first round and fired a 1-over 71 during afternoon play. Over the 36 holes on Monday, Xu posted eight birdies.
Christian Emmerich is tied for 16th place (143) after the opening two rounds. He also got off to a nice start, with a 69 during the morning round, followed by a second round 74. He played a bogey-free back nine during the first round and posted a total of nine total birdies for the first day of competition.
Tommy Mangan is tied for 21st place (70-74=144). He recorded a pair of eagles for the Eagles, getting home in two on the par 4 4th hole in each of his two rounds of play.
Markus Lam is tied for 25th place (68-77=145). He opened with a stellar bogey-free 2-under 68 in the first round.
Ben Paylor, competing as an individual for BC, is tied for 29th place (75-71=146). His best round came during the afternoon session - a 1-over 71. William Musson, also playing as an individual, rounds of the BC golfers in a tie for 39th place (75-73=148). The highlight of the day for Musson and the Eagles came during the second round - with an ace on the par 3 3rd hole.
As a team, the Eagles lead the field in par 4 (3.99 avg, -1) and par 5 (4.90 avg, -2). BC also leads the field with 31 birdies and two eagles.
