Jackson earns ACC honors after breaking the school record for the Men's Mile
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Steven Jackson has been named ACC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Steven Jackson is coming off a performance at the Eagle Elite Invitational where he earned a school record for the Men's Mile with his time of 3:52.71. Jackson's time currently puts him at No. 7 nationally and No. 3 out of all ACC runners.Â
Jackson, a graduate student from Reading, Mass., has been improving on his Mile time ever since he first broke the school record at the 2022 IC4A Championship meet with a time of 4:01.98. He then followed up that performance at the 2023 Eagle Elite meet, where he ran to a time of 4:01.79. Jackson made Boston College history a week later as he became the first ever Eagle to run a sub-4 minute Mile, crossing the finish line with a time of 3:57.70. The grad student improved his Mile time twice during the 2024 Indoor Season, earning times of 3:56.37 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic and 3.55.39 at the Terrier DMR Challenge. Â
Â
To start off the indoor 2025 season, Jackson got right back to making an impact on the track. Jackson continued his career success at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic meet, becoming the first ever Eagle to complete the Men's Mile under 3:55 with his time of 3:54.70. Jackson's time put him at No. 19 in the country. Jackson most recently moved into No. 7 in the country and No. 3 in the ACC for the Men's Mile as he earned a time of 3:52.71 at the Eagle Elite Invitational.Â
Jackson is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Sports Administration, and was named to the 2024 ACC Cross Country All-Academic Team for his success in the classroom and on the course. Jackson will look to earn a bid to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, as well as the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the spring.Â
