Cross Country Earns ACC All-Academic Honors

19 members of the Men's and Women's Cross Country teams earn ACC All-Academic Honors
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the 2024 Men's and Women's All-Academic teams on Tuesday morning. The Eagles had 19 honorees, 10 on the Men's team and nine on the Women's team.
In order to be selected to the All-ACC Academic Teams, the athletes must have a 3.0 grade point average for the fall semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during their academic career. The student-athletes must also have competed in either the ACC Cross Country Championship meet or the NCAA Cross Country Championship meet in the fall semester.
The Boston College Men's Cross Country team had 10 athletes named to the ACC All-Academic team. Eight of the 10 athletes earned a grade point average of 3.3 or higher, while six of 10 had a 3.5 or higher.
Peter Fox and Eero Helenius led the way in the classroom for the Eagles, both earning a Fall semester grade point average of 4.0.
Fox is in his senior year with the Eagles, and is currently studying Chemistry. The Aurora, Colo. native raced at NCAA Northeast Regionals for the Eagles, ultimately placing 135th in the Men's 10k. Helenius is currently in his senior year, and is on the way to earning a degree in International Studies. The Newton, Mass. native competed at the ACC Cross Country Championships in November, crossing the finish line at 108th overall.
The Boston College Women's Cross Country team landed nine athletes on the ACC All-Academic team. Five of the nine athletes honored earned a Fall semester grade point average of 3.3 or higher, including two athletes who achieved a 3.8 or higher.
Yasmine Abbes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the Fall semester. The Graduate Student from Nijmegen, Netherlands is currently pursuing her Masters of Sports Administration. Abbes competed at ACC Championships, NCAA Northeast Regionals, and the NCAA Cross Country Championship for the Eagles, with her best performance coming at ACC's where she placed 46th overall.
