Rowing Club 4+ and Club 8+ Earn Top-10 Finishes

BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College rowing team wrapped up the first day of competition with two eighth place finishes at the 60th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Three crews raced on Saturday - the Club 4+, and two Club 8+.
"Good racing by all 3 crews, and very solid to get two top 10 finishes against some very fast competition," said Head Coach Grace Hollowell. "The team had great mindsets across the board today and did what we've been talking about, winning together and executing details. All crews learned a lot and we are excited to put what we learned into action in the weeks ahead!"
Kicking off the weekend was the Club 4+ coxed by Lucy Fortner, stroked by Ella Ryan, Lauren Craven, Grace Yi and Leighton Smith. The Club 4+ placed eighth out of 53 boats recording a time of 18:31.912. The Club 4+ finished ahead of Georgetown, Colgate, Holy Cross. The Eagles finished less than one second behind Dartmouth, and five seconds behind Boston University.
In the women's club eights, Boston College's first Club 8+ recorded an eighth place finish. Coxed by Madelyn Stevens, stroked by Erin Smith, Callaghan Nickerson, Lauren Schramm, Jennie Sherwood, Reagan Rock, Alice Frascella, Angela Devine and Claire Piacentini, they posted a time of 16:47.652. The Eagles finished ahead of MIT, Marist, UConn, Clemson and BU.
The second Club 8+ placed 14th out of 43 crews. Coxed by Tariya Singh, stroked by Olivia Hankey, Quinn Baker, Jo McTamney, Melinda Aznar Klein, Leighton Davis, Vanessa Ksiazek, Amelia Sanger and Chloe Wilkinson, they posted a time of 17:02.302. The Eagles finished less than three seconds behind Clemson and four seconds behind UConn.
