Ava Thomas Scores Twice in Victory Over Providence

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Ava Thomas scored twice as Boston College powered past Providence, 5-1, on Saturday afternoon at Schneider Arena.
Sammy Taber opened the scoring seven minutes into the first period to put the Eagles on the board early. Thomas doubled the lead later in the frame before Kate Ham converted on the power play to make it 3-0 after 20 minutes. Despite the commanding lead, shots on goal were even at 10 apiece through the first period.
Thomas struck again midway through the second period, finishing a breakaway for her second goal of the night. Madelyn Murphy added her second career tally in the final minutes of the frame to extend BC's lead to 5-0 heading into the third.
Providence got on the board with 15 minutes remaining, but the Eagles locked things down the rest of the way to secure the 5-1 victory.
