
Eagles Sail Away With Two Top-Five Finishes in Cambridge

Eight Boats Sailed in Four Regattas in Cambridge and Providence for BC
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College Sailing team was back in action this past weekend, securing two top-five finishes across four races. The Eagles placed 13th and 14th in the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Conference Champs Regatta and 14th in the Montotype Trophy - NEISA Open Singlehanded Champs Regatta, both hosted by Brown University. BC also placed fourth in the Hatch Brown Trophy Regatta hosted by MIT, and placed second in the Regis Trophy Regatta hosted by Harvard University.Â
The Eagles started the weekend in Providence, Rhode Island with the NEISA Singlehanded Conference Championship, which saw Madeline Torrey score 80 points and secure 13th place, while Aiesha Shekhar scored 83 points and placed 14th. Also in Providence was the Montotype Trophy - NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship, which saw Tor Svendsen score 112 points and place 15th out of 34 boats.
In Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Eagles competed in the Hatch Brown Trophy Regatta and the Regis Trophy Regatta. BC had three boats in the Hatch Brown Trophy, with the A boat, led by skipper Jack Redmond and Crew Brendan Peary coming in eighth, the B boat, led by Skipper Peter Busch and Crew Emily Marlas coming in first, and the C boat, led by skipper Ian Hopkins Guerra and Crew Lanie Ferrarone coming in fifth. Combined, the Eagles placed fourth out of 18 schools.
In the Regis Trophy Regatta, the Eagles raced two boats, the A boat led by Skipper Caroline Sibilly and Crew Kennedy Laureigh, and the B boat, led by Skipper Sara Schumann and Crew Sophia Hacket. Both boats ranked second, giving the Eagles a second place finish out of 18 teams.Â
Up next: The Eagles are back in action next weekend as they host the NEISA Match Race Conference Championship and the Eagle Invite Regatta, and will race in the Hoyt Trophy Regatta, the Mrs. Hurst Regatta, and the Hood Trophy Regatta.
