
Women's Cross Country Earns No. 21 Ranking in Preseason National Poll

The Eagles earn their highest preseason poll ranking since 2014
NEW ORLEANS, La. – Boston College women's cross country enters the 2024 season ranked No. 21 in the country according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national preseason poll as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The USTFCCCA released its national preseason polls and BC's No. 21 ranking is the team's highest ranking in the poll since the Eagles were ranked 26th in the week 6 rankings last fall. This marks the first time the Eagles have been ranked in the preseason poll since 2014, and the third time since 2020 that they have cracked the top 30 in any USTFCCCA weekly poll. The Eagles received 97 points, and are one of seven ACC Women's teams to start the season in the top 30 rankings.Â
Boston College's second place finish at the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional Championship and 26th place finish at the NCAA Championship meet earned the Eagles a No. 2 ranking in the USTFCCCA northeast regional poll on Monday. The No. 2 ranking is the highest for the program in a decade. Â
The Eagles were also picked to finish seventh in the 2024 ACC Women's Cross Country coaches poll as announced on Tuesday afternoon. Boston College is coming off a 2023 Women's Cross Country season where the Eagles finished in sixth place at the ACC Cross Country Championship. Â
Boston College opens up its 2024 women's cross country season on Sept. 27 in Madison, Wisc. for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
