Eagles open season with home invitational August 30 and 31.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College volleyball team announced its 32-match 2024 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles open the season with the Boston College Invitational at the Margot Connell Recreation Center on Aug. 30 and 31. BC hosts the Big 12's Texas Tech in the season opener before facing Eastern Kentucky and Iona in a doubleheader on day two of the tournament.
Last season, Boston College opened the season with an undefeated opening weekend in its home invitational, including a sweep of Big Ten opponent Michigan. The Eagles' match against Texas Tech will be the second all-time match-up, first since 2012, which is BC's only previous match against a Big 12 opponent.
Boston College hits the road fo three consecutive tournaments at Fairfield (Sept. 6-7) as well as two SEC road trips at Georgia (Sept. 13-14) and LSU (Sept. 19-20). The Eagles face the host Stags on Sept. 6 before taking on Central Connecticut State and Binghamton on Sept. 7. A week later, BC takes on Jacksonville in Athens before a prime time match vs. the host Bulldogs on Sept. 13. The weekend wraps with a match-up against Utah Valley on Sept. 14. In the final tournament, BC takes on North Florida and the host Tigers in a doubleheader in Baton Rouge on Sept. 19. The final non-conference match of the season pits Boston College against San Diego, who BC fell to in four sets last year in San Diego.
The Eagles have never played LSU and last faced Georgia in 2016; the only match-up between the two programs. BC's last match against a SEC opponent was in 2023 against Tennessee in San Diego. Boston College's last win over a SEC foe came against Mississippi State at USC in 2012.
ACC play rolls in on Sept. 27 and Sept. 29 at Duke and North Carolina. The Eagles host Pittsburgh (Oct. 4) and SMU (Oct. 6) in the first home ACC weekend of the season. The match-up with the Mustangs marks the first between the new conference opponents. A week later, BC visits California (Oct. 11) and Stanford (Oct. 12). The Eagles and Golden Bears have never taken the court, while BC took on the Cardinal in 2005.
The Eagles return home for a four-match homestand to close our October against Florida State (Oct. 18), Miami (Oct. 20), Virginia Tech (Oct. 25) and Virginia (Oct. 27). BC's match against the Hokies will be a Friday afternoon first serve at 1 p.m. ahead of the BC football home game against Louisville at 7:30 p.m. at the start of Homecoming Weekend on the Heights.
November starts with a second trip to North Carolina for matches at Wake Forest (Nov. 1) and NC State (Nov. 3). A home weekend follows against Notre Dame (Nov. 8) and Louisville (Nov. 10) before BC hits the road for three straights matches. The Eagles head to Clemson (Nov. 15), Georgia Tech (Nov. 17) and Syracuse (Nov. 20). BC returns home for a rematch against the Orange (Nov. 24) and a home match against Clemson (Nov. 27) before concluding the regular season at Virginia (Nov. 30).
The Eagles have combined to go 43-26 in the last two seasons and 15-21 in the ACC; the winningest two-year stretch in program history overall and in ACC play.
