Sydney Scales Named Women's Lacrosse ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse senior defender Syndey Scales was named the 2024 ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year and 15 players were named to the All-Academic Team on Wednesday.
Scales is the third BC player to win the ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year, joining Sam Apuzzo (2018, 2019) and Charlotte North (2021, 2022).
The Walpole, Mass. native had a stellar senior campaign, as she was named the IWLCA Defender of the Year and the ACC Defender of the Year for a second straight season. She was also named the ACC Tournament Most Outstanding Player. It's the fourth consecutive season that Scales is on the all-academic team.
Eleven of the honorees are on the list for at least a second time. Belle Smith joins Scales as a four-time member. Molly Driscoll, Shea Dolce, Emma LoPinto and Becky Browndorf are were named all-academic for the first time in the league.
BC finished the season with a 20-3 mark, a second national title in four seasons and back-to-back ACC championships.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
