
Seven Straight: Eagles Punch Ticket to NCAA Semifinals

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College lacrosse punched its ticket to the NCAA Semifinals with a 14-9 victory over Michigan at the Newton Lacrosse Field.Â
The Eagles advanced to championship weekend for the seventh straight season and improved to 18-3. Boston College will face Syracuse next Friday, May 24 for a seventh consecutive appearance in the NCAA championship.Â
BC's defense was on full display, causing nine of Michigan's 13 turnovers, and won the draw battle 15-12. Andrea Reynolds led the team with five draw controls and added a goal.Â
Shea Baker posted a career-high three caused turnovers with five ground balls. Sydney Scales totaled two caused turnovers and one ground ball. Shea Dolce made timely saves with nine and a .500 save percentage.Â
Rachel Clark led the offense with five points (4 G, 1 A), leading seven different Eagles who scored. Kayla Martello registered a hat trick while Mckenna Davis and Cassidy Weeks scored twice.Â
BC got off to a strong start, jumping out to a 6-2 first-quarter lead thanks to a balanced scoring effort. Clark's goal with just six seconds left gave her team the four-goal lead heading into the second.Â
The offense continued its solid play as it went on a 5-0 run after Michigan had scored to cut the gap in half. Michigan scored with under a minute left to send the game into the break with an 11-4 score in BC's favor.Â
After a Davis score to begin the third period, Michigan scored three straight to close the lead to five. However, Clark stopped the run to end the fourth. Martello answered Michigan's early fourth-period goal with a score of her own to keep the lead at six, 14-8. Neither team would score until Michigan tacked on a goal with 34 seconds left in the game.Â
BC has won 14 straight games at home in the NCAA Tournament and is 74-0 dating back to 2017 when holding an opponent to under 10 goals.Â
