Fencing Lands 17 All-ACC Academic Honors

17 members of the Fencing team earn All-ACC Academic Honors on Monday afternoon
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – 17 members of the Boston College Men's and Women's Fencing team were named to the 2024 All-ACC Academic Fencing Teams, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday afternoon.Â
The Eagles had nine members on the Men's team and 8 members on the Women's teams earn All-ACC Academic honors for their success in the classroom this season. Boston College's honorees on the Men's side included, Luca Berman, Ryan Ho, Christian Ko, Elijah Onik, Inigo Rivera, Ryan Wong, Adam Yang, Colin Yu, and Zachary Westen. Rachel Buhay, Cameron Cho, Helen Cobert, Greta DeBack, Anisha Kundu, Rachel Liu, Cynthia Ming, and Taylor Sartori were the Eagles honored from the Women's team.
Zachary Western earned a team best GPA for the Men's team, finishing the fall semester with a 4.0 GPA. The grad student from Denver Colo. is working towards a masters in Philosophy.Â
Taylor Sartori compiled a Women's team best 3.868 in the fall semester. The freshman from Rochester, N.Y. is currently studying Psychology.Â
In order to qualify for, candidates must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average for their career as well as a minimum 3.0 GPA during the most recently completed semester/quarter. Graduate students must have an undergraduate and graduate career minimum grade point average of 3.0 as well as a minimum 3.0 GPA during the most recently completed semester/quarter. Candidates also need to have participated in the ACC Championships and/or NCAA Championships.
The Boston College fencing team wrapped up its season on the weekend of Mar. 21-24 at the NCAA Championships, where the Eagles had three athletes competing. Levi Hughes placed 13th overall in Men's Epee, Luca Berman placed 16th in Men's Sabre, and Elijah Onik finished 18th overall in Men's Foil. The Eagles are coming off a season where Cameron Cho and Levi Hughes earned Bronze at ACC Championships, and six members were named to the 2024 USFCA Northeast All-Region Team.Â
