Haggerty Earns All-ACC Second Team Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.-- The Atlantic Coast Conference announced this year's All-ACC teams and honors determined by a vote of the leagues 18 head coaches and senior middle blocker Julia Haggerty was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
Haggerty totaled 223 blocks on the season averaging 1.91 blocks per set. Haggerty led the nation in total blocks by more than 30 and is the only athlete with more than 200 blocks on the season. In her senior campaign, Haggerty became the all-time NCAA leader in blocks per set in a single season within the 25-point scoring era (2008) dethroning BYU 2018 graduate Whitney Young who averaged 1.89 blocks per set in 2014. Haggerty also lands second in the NCAA total blocks record book falling behind Young who added 229 blocks in 2014.  Â
The Lafayette, Calif. native posted a career high 12 blocks in a gritty four-set match against North Carolina on Sept. 29- the second most by an individual in a four-set ACC game this season. She became the first BC athlete in program history to reach 500 career blocks, landing at the top of the Eagles record book. Haggerty earned All-ACC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 4, she added 17 kills on a .708 hitting percentage and 15 blocks in the sweeps of Wake Forest and NC State.Â
