Eight Inducted to Varsity Club Hall of Fame Friday Night

The Boston College Varsity Club welcomed its 54th Hall of Fame Class.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Varsity Club inducted the 54th Hall of Fame Class on Friday night at Lyons Hall. The eight honorees are permanently enshrined on the Wall of Fame on the west concourse of Conte Forum.
The eight Eagles honored are Jo-Lonn Dunbar '08 (football), Kristin Igoe '12 (women's lacrosse), Drew Locke '05 (baseball), Kristen Madden '06 (field hockey), Maria Montuori '87 (women's soccer), Stuart H. Primus '85 (men's basketball), Rob Scuderi '01 (men's ice hockey) and Elizabeth Walker '96 (softball). David P. Hasenfus '65 was also honored with The William J. Donlon Special Achievement Award from the Varsity Club Hall of Fame Selection Committee.Â
The 2024 Varsity Club Hall of Fame Class will be introduced at halftime of the BC football game against Syracuse on Saturday.
Inductee Biographies
Jo-Lonn Dunbar '08, Football – Dunbar was a two-time captain of the Boston College football team, including his 2007 senior season, which culminated in an ACC Atlantic Division Championship, appearance in the ACC Championship Game and Champs Sports Bowl victory over Michigan State. He earned All-ACC Second Team that season with 90 tackles, a year after leading the Eagles' with 92 tackles. Dunbar totaled 269 tackles, including 19.5 tackles for loss, in 46 career games. He stepped up to make game-altering plays throughout his career, including a fourth-quarter fumble recovery to set up the game-winning field goal in the 2006 Meineke Car Care Bowl against Navy. In 2007, he dominated Virginia Tech with 12 tackles in a comeback win on the road that propelled the Eagles to the program's highest ranking in the national polls at No. 2. At the professional level, he went undrafted and played eight seasons in the NFL, starting 64 of 100 games and was a member of the Super Bowl XLIV Champion New Orleans Saints.
Kristin Igoe '12, Women's Lacrosse – A native of nearby Framingham, Igoe was a four-time All-ACC selection for the Boston College women's lacrosse team. She twice earned All-America recognition from the IWLCA as a 2011 First Team pick and 2012 Second Team pick. Igoe was also a four-time IWLCA Northeast-All Region honoree. She ranks eighth all-time at BC in goals with 168, 11th all-time in points at 218 and 17th all-time in assists at 50. Her 100 points in 35 games are good for the sixth fastest to 100 in program history. Igoe is also fifth all-time at BC in ground balls with 140 and 13th in draw controls at 121. She spent four years playing for the U.S. National Team.
Drew Locke '05, Baseball – Weymouth's Locke had an immediate impact on the BC baseball lineup, hitting .404 as a freshman in 2002. He went on to hit .324 for his career with 244 hits, which ranks second in program history. Locke owns the program record for doubles with 69 and runs with 157. He is tied for third in stolen bases with 49, fifth in RBI at 128 and sixth in games played at 201. He was a three-time All-Big East Second Team pick in 2003, 2004 and 2005 as well as Third Team in 2002. He also earned 2002 Collegiate Baseball News Freshman All-America and was ABCA All-Northeast in 2002 and 2003. Locke was a 19th round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers and reached Triple-A with the Houston Astros. He was a career .297 hitter with over 100 home runs and 500 RBI in eight professional seasons.
Kristen Madden '06, Field Hockey – Madden, a 2006 Eagle of the Year, was a mainstay on the BC field hockey defense from 2002-05 as the program transitioned from the Big East to the ACC. She was the 2003 Big East Defender of the Year and garnered All-Big East First Team honors in 2003 and 2004. In the program's first year in the ACC, she continued to pull in the awards as a 2005 All-ACC performer. Madden twice earned NFHCA First Team All-America in 2004 and 2005 and was a NFHCA Second Team All-American in 2003. She also earned All-Big East Second Team in 2002. Madden appeared in 86 career games, scoring 18 goals with 23 assists for 59 total points. She had her best offensive season as a senior with 12 goals, eight assists and 32 points. Madden helped the Eagles to three NCAA tournament appearances and a 2003 Big East Tournament Championship. Beyond BC, she was a two-time Team USA U-21 member in 2003 and 2004.
Maria Montuori '87, Women's Soccer – Montuori was a four-year starter for the Boston College women's soccer team. A 1986 NSCAA Division I First Team All-American, she was a three-time Regional All-American pick from 1984 to 1986. Montuori was part of the 1983 BC team with the longest win streak in program history, was a part of three NCAA Tournament teams, including the 1985 quarterfinals squad, and helped the Eagles to a 50-22-4 record in her career. She served as team captain in 1986 for the ECAC Champions and earned First Team All-New England for the third consecutive season. Montuori received a national team pool invite following her senior season. Montuori was also a two-sport athlete at BC as a four-year starter for the softball team.
Stuart H. Primus '85, Men's Basketball – A product of Lynn Classical, Primus matriculated at Boston College as a member of the men's basketball team beginning in 1981. The ultimate sixth man beginning as a sophomore, he was a part of the 1982-83 team that reached the NCAA West Regional Semifinal, following a win over Princeton in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 4.9 points per game, including a 6.7 mark in Big East games as the Eagles went 25-7 overall and 12-4 in league. In 1983-84, Primus averaged 7.0 points per game, again upping his production in Big East play to 8.5. The Eagles went 18-12 and reached the second round of the NIT; a season before the NCAA Tournament field expanded to 64 teams. As a senior, Primus averaged 8.8 points per game and 9.0 per game in Big East play. The Eagles returned to the NCAA Tournament as an 11 seed and upset Texas Tech and Duke on the way to the 1985 Sweet 16. Primus finished his career with 568 points, shooting 48.8 percent from the floor, with 192 rebounds, 115 assists and 87 steals. He was selected in the sixth round of the 1985 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers.
Rob Scuderi '01, Men's Ice Hockey – Scuderi took the ice for a BC men's ice hockey record 169 games during his four years on the Heights. The four-year defenseman totaled 70 points on seven goals and 63 assists. A Hockey East All-Rookie Team honoree in 1998, he capped his career as a member of the Eagles' 2001 National Championship Team. Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins following his freshman season, Scuderi went on to a 12-year career in the NHL; winning Stanley Cups with the Penguins (2009) and Los Angeles Kings (2012). He amassed 110 career points in 783 games and played in 122 Stanley Cup Playoff Games, posting 14 points, including an assist on the game-winning goal in game seven of the 2009 Stanley Cup Final.
Elizabeth Walker '96, Softball – As a two-way threat on the diamond, Holliston's Walker was a complete player on the Boston College softball team from 1993-96. She threw 57 complete games in her career, including a single-season record 23 in 1994 as a sophomore. She went 42-28 in the circle for her career with 193 strikeouts and a 1.99 earned run average. Walker's career ERA ranks fourth all-time at BC and her wins rank seventh. In the batter's box, she hit .274 for her career with 73 runs, 62 RBI and five home runs. As a senior, she hit .381, which is the fourth best single-season batting average in program history. Elizabeth (Walker) MacLeod passed on November 2, 2021 at the age of 47 following an 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. The BC softball team remembers Walker each year with its annual alumni game named in her honor.
David P. Hasenfus '65, Donlon Award – The Donlon award is bestowed periodically upon individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication and who have performed exceptional service to Boston College Athletics. Hasenfus' association with the Boston College Varsity Club began over 40 years ago and remains today as the Historian Emeritus. David is an executive committee member of the Eagle of the Year
Award and remains active in all aspects of the Boston College Varsity Club Hall of Fame vetting process as Historian Emeritus. For over 20 years, Hasenfus organized the Hall of Fame Club events
at home BC football games. He served as the event organizer and host, while growing membership to help fund the Conte Forum Wall of Fame. Most recently, a lifelong mineral and fossil collector, Hasenfus contributed his extensive collection to Boston College to help fund the Devlin Hall Renovation Project.
