BC Improves to 5-0 in Conference Play
NEWTON, Mass. - No. 10 Boston College field hockey (10-3, 5-0 ACC) defeated the Stanford Cardinal (5-7, 0-6 ACC) by a score of 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.Â
The Eagles got on the board three and a half minutes into the game, as Peyton Hale fired a shot from just inside the circle, which was saved by Daisy Ford, but tipped in by Madelieve Drion to make it 1-0.
10 minutes into the second half, the Eagles were awarded a penalty corner, which they capitalized on. Juliette Hijdra inserted the ball to Peyton Hale, who fired a shot from the left side of the circle, hitting the stick of Martina Giacchino, who netted her second of the season.
The Eagles had the edge in shots (19-3), shots on goal (11-0), and penalty corners (8-3), while the Cardinal had the edge in saves (9-0).Â
Up next: The Eagles are back in action next week Sunday for Senior Day, as they face the University at Albany at 2 p.m.
