Eagles improve to 4-0 in the conference
NEWTON, Mass. - The No. 10 Boston College Eagles (9-3, 4-0 ACC) defeated the No. 18 California Golden Bears (6-4, 0-4 ACC) by a score of 4-0 on Friday evening. All four of the Eagles' goals came within 10 minutes of each other in the second quarter.
The Eagles were on the attack early, attempting five shots in the first quarter. The first goal came a minute into the second quarter, as Madelieve Drion found the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season. Three minutes later, Elisa Brauel-Jahnke tipped home a slick feed from Klara Mueffelmann to put the Eagles up 2-0.Â
Five minutes later, it would be Drion again who tipped in a pass from Madelief Grandjean to make it 3-0. To round out the half, the Eagles were awarded a penalty stroke, which was capitalized on by Peyton Hale for her eighth goal of the season, making it 4-0. The Eagles attempted eight shots in the second quarter.
The Eagles had the edge in shots (21-7), shots on goal (13-5), and penalty corners (10-1), while the Golden Bears had the edge in saves (9-5). In goal for the Eagles, Charlotte Kramer recorded four saves, while Hayley Hayden recorded one. For the Golden Bears, Tina Jolly notched seven, while Audrey Post recorded two.Â
