
Eagles Add Kate Leary '15 to Staff as Assistant Coach

Kate Leary returns to the Heights after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Hockey East foe Merrimack.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College alumna Kate Leary '15 has been named an assistant coach on the women's ice hockey staff, it was announced Thursday by the Jane Rattigan Head Women's Hockey Coach Katie Crowley.
Leary returns to the Heights after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Hockey East foe Merrimack and the 2020-21 season as an assistant coach at St. Anselm. For the 2019-20 season, Leary was the head coach of the Walpole Express juniors' team and served as the Director and Advisor for Trax Academy in Walpole, Mass., where she was responsible for planning and leading on-ice skill development and tutoring high school students. Additionally, she has spent time coaching with Hill Hockey, Elite Hockey Development and Leprechauns Hockey.
Leary played four seasons on the Heights and was a part of four NCAA Tournament teams and three Frozen Four squads while winning two Hockey East regular season titles along with the 2014 Beanpot championship. She skated in 149 career games with 42 goals and 43 assists for 85 points, recording a career-high 17 goals and 31 points as a senior in 2014-15.
The Seabrook, N.H. native played professionally for the Boston Blades in the CWHL (2016-18), the Hockey Club Ladies Lugano in Switzerland in the SWHL A (2018-19) and then for the Metropolitan Riveters in the NWHL (2019-21). Leary was named NWHL Newcomer of the Year for the 2019-20 season.
Leary graduated from Boston College in 2015 with bachelor's degrees in Applied Psychology and Human Development and History. She went on to earn a master's degree from BC in Sports Administration in 2021.
