Foster earns promotion after five years as assistant coach
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College Field Hockey rounded out their staff updates for the upcoming season with the promotion of Mark Foster to Associate Head Coach, as announced by Head Coach Kelly Doton this afternoon.
"Hiring a first assistant coach isn't just about coaching the X's and O's. As a young Head Coach at the time, I knew I needed someone who shares the same vision and passion with my goal of winning championships," said Head Coach Kelly Doton. "Since Mark's hire, BC Field Hockey has benefited from his desire in making players better, and his willingness to do whatever the program needs to succeed. I am thankful to have had Mark with me on the sideline the last 6 years, and I'll be forever indebted to him in helping me grow as a person and coach. I am honored to name him Associate Head Field Hockey Coach at Boston College."
Foster has been a member of the Eagles' coaching staff since 2017, when he joined the staff after over two years coaching at WC Eagles, one of the top club programs in the nation out of Pottstown, Pennsylvania. As a member of the WC Eagles staff, he was a part of five teams that won the USA National Club Championships.
Coach Foster began his coaching career in 2014 at his alma mater, Durham University in England. Since then, he has also spent two seasons as a staff member with USA Field Hockey's National Indoor Team.
Since Foster joined the Eagles' staff in 2017, Boston College has made a trip to the NCAA Final Four (2019), produced nine different All-Americans, an ACC Defensive Player of the Year, a Freshman of the Year, and eight All-ACC selections.
Foster completes the 2023-24 staff of Head Coach Kelly Doton, and assistant coaches Jill Gambino and Sarah Johnson.
