He becomes the first Eagle in four years to earn All-District accolades
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Quinten Post was named to the 2022-23 U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District I team, it was announced today.  Based on voting from its national membership, the USBWA has selected All-District teams since the 1956-57 season - its founding year.
Post was among the 10-player District I team, comprised of players from the 24 NCAA Division I schools in New England (Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island).
Earlier this month, the 7-footer was named the 2022-23 Atlantic Coast Conference's Most Improved Player.  He was the first BC player to earn the major award from the ACC, earning 23 of the 75 votes among 11 different players who were nominated.
Post was also named to the 2022-23 All-ACC team, earning a spot among the honorable mention honorees. He was the fourth Eagle to receive All-ACC honorable mention accolades, joining Jerome Robinson (2016-17), Ky Bowman (2017-18), and Steffon Mitchell (2019-20).
After missing the first 13 games of the season, Post emerged as one of the top big men in the conference and in the country. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game in 19 games.
The 7-footer is one of 15 players nationally - and the only player in the ACC - to post those per game averages. He ranks 69th nationally - and fifth in the ACC - in points-assists-rebounds per 40 (PAR/40), with a metric of 34.4.
Â
Post finished slightly under the 50/40/90 line for the season - 53.9% field goals; 42.6% 3-pointers; 86.0% free throws - and is the only player nationally posting those percentages (min. 15.0 ppg) in 2022-23. Since 1996-97, only two other players have posted those season averages (min. 15.0 ppg). Â
Year-over-year, Post made one of the most transformative jumps among any player in the country. He averaged nearly 6.0 points per game more, while significantly improving on his shooting percentages from the floor, the perimeter, and the foul line, all while close to doubling his shot rate from all areas of the floor. Â
The Eagles saw a marked offensive improvement once he returned to the floor. In the 12 games to start the season without Post, BC averaged 64.3 points per game, while connecting on 41.3% from the floor, 26.6% from the perimeter, and 67.1% from the FT line - with a 0.79:1 assist/turnover rate.
In the 19 games with Post, BC is averaging 67.4 points (+3.1 ppg), is connecting on 45.32 of its field goals (+9.7% increase), 35.7% from beyond the arc (+31.2% increase), and 77.2% from the FT line (+15.1% increase) - with a 1.13:1 ATR. When Post played 25 minutes or more, Boston College was 8-6 overall, including 4-2 on the road. He averaged 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 blocked shots in those games.
Post scored 20 or more points on six occasions and reached double figures 15 times. He recorded career-highs of 29 points and 14 boards at Notre Dame, following that up with 22 vs. Louisville and 24 at Virginia. He is one of two players in the ACC - and 28 nationally - to register a 29-point/14-rebound double-double this season. In the win at Virginia Tech, Post logged his second double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 boards.
He was a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc at Florida State - the first 7-footer to be perfect from the perimeter (min 5 FGM) March 17, 2017. On Feb. 11, he was 9-of-11 from the floor, good for 20 points against #22/22 N.C. State. The 81.8% single-game shooting percentage was the fifth-best mark in the ACC this season (min. 10 FGA).
Post is the first BC player to earn USBWA All-District I honors since Ky Bowman in 2018-19.
