No. 6 Eagles Fall to No. 3 Cardinals in ACC Tournament

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 6-seeded Eagles (11-7, 2-5 ACC) fell short to the third-seeded Cardinals (14-5, 4-3 ACC) in Tuesday night's ACC quarterfinal matchup.
Simone Hefting was the first to enter the scoring column on Tuesday night, netting a penalty corner setup from Margo Carlin and Martina Giacchino 8:33 into the first quarter. The Cardinals would answer shortly after, converting in the 11th minute to tie the game at 1-1.
The Eagles would surrender a second goal to Louisville in the opening minutes of the second quarter, falling behind 1-2 after Rylie Wollerton scored her second of the night. The Cardinals would extend their lead to 3-1 on the night in the third, carrying a two-goal advantage into the final 15 minutes of action.
Peyton Hale would rally BC with a last-minute goal from a penalty corner assist by Margo Carlin and Martina Giacchino to cut the lead to one goal. Despite the momentum swing in the waning moments with an empty net, the Eagles would ultimately fall short 2-3.
Boston College created multiple quality chances, tallying a 17-6 shots advantage and 7-2 corner discrepancy over the course of the contest.
