CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Both the men's and women's cross country teams earned recognition as part of the All-Academic Teams for the 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country season. The awards were announced on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Eagles shined in the classroom this past semester - logging in a team GPA of 3.27 on the women's side and a 3.23 on the men's side. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.
The men's team has been recognized by the USTFCCCA for 12 consecutive years under coach Matt Kerr and now earns its 13th distinction in a row in head coach Peter Watson's inaugural season.
The women's team has earned All-Academic Team in 11 of the past 12 years and looks to begin a new streak with their selection this semester.
Overall, there were 249 different programs who were named All-Academic Teams for their efforts during the 2022 season. No teams posted a better cumulative GPA than Georgia State University for the second year in a row.
