Johnson scored or assisted on three of five BC goals last weekend
GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College's Sarah Johnson has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while North Carolina's Meredith Sholder claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Johnson had a hand in three of the Eagles' five goals over the weekend. The Oxford, Pennsylvania, native assisted on the first goal less than nine minutes into Friday's ACC opener against No. 9 Virginia, giving No. 21 Boston College an early lead it would not relinquish in an eventual 2-1 upset of the Cavaliers. Johnson came back with a goal and an assist in Sunday's 3-2 win over visiting Monmouth. The goal – Johnson's first of the season – came on an unassisted strike at the outset of the second half.
A captain for the Eagles, Johnson has started all eight games so far this season, logging the most minutes of anyone on the team.Â
