BC Plays Army to 2-2 Tie in Red Bandanna Game

NEWTON, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team battled the Army Black Knights to a 2-2 tie on Sunday afternoon at the Newton Campus Soccer Field.
The contest also served as BC's Red Bandanna Game in honor of former Boston College lacrosse player Welles Crowther, who led people to safety after terrorists struck the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.
Senior Sydney Moore wore the No. 19 jersey in honor of Crowther.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute thanks to Sophia Lowenberg's first career goal. Army, though, responded before halftime and then after Ella Richards gave BC a 2-1 lead in the 62nd minute, equalized the game again in the 80th minute for the 2-2 final.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- 29' | Laura Gouvin drove in a corner kick that Sophia Lowenberg headed home.
- 38' | Gaining the ball in midfield, Cami Silvestro slotted a ball to Jasmine Talley who was able to go in on goal and send a shot high under the cross bar.
- 62' | After Éabha O'Mahony sent in a long ball, Ella Richards trapped it and found herself among three defenders. With her back to goal, Richards fake a shot to her right, turned to her left and then evaded one more defender before firing a shot to the far post.
- 80' | Talley sent in a ball from the right flank that Nahas charged out to get but Dara Murray was able to finish the rebounded ball at the near post.
- Boston College had the 13-11 lead in shots.
- The Eagles held the 8-5 lead in corner kicks.
- Goalkeeper Eva Nahas made her collegiate debut and finished with two saves to move to 0-0-1 on the year.
- Boston College is now 2-0-1 in the all-time series with Army.
- This marked the final non-conference game of the regular season for the Eagles.
- Seven different Eagles registered a shot while Ella Richards led the way with a game-high four.
- Richards notched her third goal of the season.
- Sophia Lowenberg scored her first career goal.
- Claire Mensi and Emma Badger earned the first starts of their BC careers and played the full 90 minutes.
- Boston College will now begin ACC play, hosting reigning national champion Florida State at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.
- The Eagles will then head to North Carolina for two games, taking on Duke on Thursday, Sept. 22 and then North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 25.
