CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Two members of the Boston College men's golf family - past and present - will tee to up at the 122nd U.S. Amateur on Monday, August 15 at the Arcola Country Club in Paramus, N.J.
Alum Christian Cavaliere will tee off at 1:49 p.m., while rising senior Nick Cummings will tee off at 2:10 p.m. at the Artola C.C., on Monday during the first of two rounds of stroke play on Aug. 15-16, followed by match play format with the top 64 players starting on Aug. 17. Â
For Cavaliere, this marks his third consecutive - and fourth overall - appearance at the U.S. Amateur. Last year, the 2020 graduate played in the 121st U.S. Amateur at Oakmont C.C. in Oakmont, Pa. Cavaliere also played in the 120th at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Ore. and the 119th U.S. Amateur at Pebble Beach & Spyglass Hill in Northern California. He earned his spot in the field this season in dominant fashion, taking the medal at the Westchester Hills G.C. qualifier on July 11 by eight strokes, thanks to an opening round 63.
Nick Cummings won his sectional qualifier at the Ledges G.C. in York, Maine on July 18. Cummings was 4-under par for the 36 holes of play  The Weston, Mass. product carded back-to-back rounds of 70 to finish as medalist. Through the two rounds, Cummings carded six birdies, an eagle, and 25 pars. This past May, Cummings advanced to the final qualifying round of the U.S. Open, held at The Country Club in Brookline. He led BC and was 32nd in the ACC in stroke average (72.38) and was a 2022 GCAA PING All-Northeast regional performer.
Cummings is the fourth BC golfer in the past four years to earn a spot in the top amateur golf tournament in the world. Last year, Cavaliere and current Eagle Ben Hong competed at the 121st U.S. Amateur at the Oakmont C.C. in Oakmont, Pa. Cavaliere also played in the 119th U.S. Amateur in 2018 at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill in Northern California. Matt Naumec competed in the 120th U.S. Amateur at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, N.C.
