JM Caparro Elevated to Deputy Athletics Director
July 06, 2022 | Boston College Athletics
In this new role, Caparro will oversee equipment operations, event management, and facilities and operations, while maintaining supervision over all external units for athletics
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — JM Caparro has been elevated to the role of Deputy Director of Athletics at Boston College, effective immediately. Caparro joined the BC Athletics Administration in September 2015 as the Senior Associate AD for External Affairs.
In this new role, Caparro will oversee equipment operations, event management, and facilities and operations, while maintaining supervision over all external units for athletics - including communications, marketing, ticket sales and service, ticket operations and interactive media. Caparro also serves as the sport administrator for the men's basketball and women's lacrosse programs and is the liaison to Learfield's Boston College Sports Properties.
"JM has diligently served Boston College for the past seven years and has been a great asset to the athletics department and our athletes," said Blake James, the William V. Campbell Director of Athletics. Â "I'm excited to have the opportunity to work closely with him and our entire athletics department as we set - and ultimately achieve - our goals to bring the Heights to greater heights."
During his tenure in Chestnut Hill, Caparro managed contract negotiations and strategic initiatives for the athletics department, including BC's record-setting department-wide apparel deal with New Balance and Adidas (football). He also led negotiations that resulted in one of the department's largest athletic partnerships with Learfield for BC Athletics' exclusive multimedia rights and corporate partnerships.
"I am humbled and grateful to lead in this new role. As a department, we have worked tirelessly to win championships and serve our community, all while keeping our athletes at the center of everything we do," Caparro said. Â "I look forward to working with Blake James as we build upon those efforts. I would also like to thank Fr. Leahy for his continued guidance and support throughout my time here on the Heights."
Caparro has served as the interim director of athletics at BC on two occasions, in 2020 and 2022.
