CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - For the second straight season, Charlotte North has been nominated for the NCAA's Woman of the Year award.Â
The Dallas, Texas native put forth a stellar season in which she won a second straight Tewaaraton award and the IWLCA Player and Attacker of the Year. She recently became just the fifth student-athlete in ACC history to win ACC Female Athlete of the Year in consecutive years.Â
North just came off of winning gold with Team USA in the 2022 World Lacrosse Championships, leading the team with 23 goals. She is up for an ESPY award as the top female collegiate athlete.Â
North broke the NCAA all-time goals mark earlier this season and stands as the all-time leader with 358 goals. She finished third among active leaders with 433 points and ninth with 373 draw controls.Â
She was named a consensus first-team All-American with IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse/IL Women, USA Lacrosse Magazine, and was the top pick in the 2022 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft .
The attacker for BC helped the Eagles earn a 19-4 mark and a fifth straight national championship appearance.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2022.
The Top 30 honorees (10 per division) will be announced in October. Nine finalists (three per division) will be announced in November. The 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the 2023 NCAA Convention in January.
