Alyssa Francona Named Senior Associate AD for Development
June 29, 2022 | Boston College Athletics
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Alyssa Francona has been named the new Senior Associate AD for Development at Boston College. Francona replaces Adam Miller, who has taken a similar role at Penn State after two years at the Heights.
Over the last four years, Francona has steadily progressed toward a leadership role within Boston College Athletics, elevating from associate director to the role of Assistant AD for Major Giving. In that most recent role, Francona led the major gift fundraising team to a record year of new philanthropic commitments and collaborated closely with BC's coaching staff & athletic leadership to support sport specific strategic initiatives and capital projects, including the most recent Hoag Basketball Pavilion project.
Francona played a key role as an individual fundraiser and team leader this past year. She has served as the interim Senior Associate AD for Development twice over the last three years and also served as BC's interim senior woman administrator from June-November 2021.
"Alyssa's positive leadership played a crucial role in the record year we had in athletics fundraising. We are thrilled for her to advance into an expanded leadership position for BC Athletics and continue driving the team to excellence through her thoughtful partnerships with our donors, coaches, and administrators," said Wesley Ellison Stewart, Associate Vice President for Major Gifts and Athletics Advancement.
Francona first joined the Boston College Athletics Department in 2010, serving as an administrative intern before assuming the role of assistant director of stewardship and donor relations for nearly three years. After a nearly six-year stint at the Atlantic Coast Conference, serving as the director of football and director of championships, Francona returned to Chestnut Hill in 2018.
A 2009 graduate of North Carolina, Francona spent four years as a member of the Tar Heels' softball team and was a veteran leader in the Carolina Leadership Academy.Â
