
North Named ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year, Eight Earn All-Academic Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Charlotte North was named the ACC's Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year, while eight Eagles were named ACC All-Academic, as the conference announced the All-Academic Team on Tuesday.Â
North is the ACC's Women Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season. She is the fourth straight ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year from BC, as Sam Apuzzo earned the prestigious honor in 2018 and 2019. The Dallas, Texas native is pursuing her master's degree in sports administration.Â
Boston College's eight selections tied for the most with Duke and Notre Dame.Â
The back-to-back Tewaaraton Award winner led the team with 92 goals, a personal-best 115 points, and 139 draw controls. She was third in the country in goals, fourth in draw controls, and fifth in points. She finished third among active leaders with 433 points and ninth with 373 draw controls. She was named a First-Team IWLCA All-American, Inside Lacrosse/IL Women First-Team All-American, USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, and was the top pick in the 2022 Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse College Draft. She ended her career as the NCAA's all-time leader in goals with 358.Â
Rachel Hall, a communications major, started in 22 of 23 games between the posts and was 22nd in the nation in goals-against average at 10.22 goals per game. She ended the year ninth among active leaders with 571 saves.Â
Jenn Medjid, a management major, started in all 23 contests. She finished second on the team with a career-high 72 goals and 102 points. Her 28 assists were a personal best as well. The senior attacker earned All-ACC First Team honors, was an Inside Lacrosse/IL Women All-American and an IWLCA All-American as well.Â
Sydney Scales, a management major, led the team with a personal-high 46 ground balls and tied for the team lead with a career-best 26 caused turnovers. She started in all 22 of her appearances, while she was a First-Team All-ACC selection and a second-team IWLCA All-American.
Hollie Schleicher, a communications major, started in 22 of 23 games this season and finished second with a personal-best 108 draw controls. The junior finished third with 33 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers. Schleicher was named to the All-ACC Second Team and earned Inside Lacrosse/IL Women All-American honors.Â
Belle Smith started in all 23 contests and finished third in with a personal-high 55 goals, tied for second with a career-high 28 points and third with 83 points - also a career mark. The sophomore midfielder was an All-ACC First Team member, IWLCA All-American, USA lacrosse Magazine All-American and an Inside Lacrosse/IL Women All-American.Â
Cassidy Weeks, a neuroscience major, started in all 23 games. She ended the season with a career-high 30 goals, 10 assists and 40 points. Weeks made the game-winning goal with 18.8 seconds left in the final four against Maryland. She was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team.Â
Welch, a finance major, started in all 23 games. She posted a career-high 23 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. The graduate student for the Eagles was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team as well.Â
